Adding a CleverGIF to Your AWeber Email

AWeber makes it easy to use CleverGIFs
in your e-mails with their Image element.

1. Get Your Dynamic URL

First, select the Dynamic URL embed code option from the CleverGIFs deployment page. Copy this HTML for use later (Haven’t deployed yet, click here for instructions).

2. Add an Image Block to Your Email Template

In AWeber create your email campaign. Drag the Image element from the left-hand panel on to your email.

Click on the “CLICK TO EDIT” box on the Image element to bring up the editor on the right-hand panel.

Once this is open, paste the Dynamic URL into the Image URL section.

Then replace the #### with your merge tag(s) within AWeber. In this example the merge tag used was the First Name. AWeber denotes their merge tags with symbols as shown in these examples:

{{subscriber.first_name}}

{!geog_city}

{!contact_address}

So the Dynamic URL we entered was

https://app.clevergifs.com/creation/V6vdXy/YwELZ6/?FNAME={{subscriber.first_name}}

You can find out more information about other merge tags from the AWeber website here.

3. Preview Your Template

To check your configuration within AWeber click the Preview & Test option.

With AWeber you can view the email as though you were one of your subscribers by writing information in the Personalization section, which will make the GIF show the name of whoever you have selected to test it with.

To check the email is configured correctly please send a test of the email to yourself or someone in your organization.

This screenshot from within Gmail shows the email with the GIF containing the first name field correctly.

That’s it! You’re ready to go!
